Renzi Zen monk Soken Danjo, "Danjo San" from his Monastery near Hiroshima, Japan returns to Santa Barbara for the 8th year, and the 5th year co-teaching this retreat with Radhule Weininger, the "Heart of Mindfulness Meditation Retreat".
Danjo San graces us with a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony and sings The Heart Sutra as part of the long weekend. The daily rhythm of this retreat involves traditional instructions with a spirit of loving-kindness, alternating periods of sitting and walking meditations, Dharma talks, teacher interviews, and rest periods. The retreat emphasizes cultivating a calm mind and a kind heart towards ourselves and others while cultivating loving awareness and compassion in a safe and joyful container. This retreat is suitable for your first retreat or a great way to renew your practice.
